- Offer examples of organized self-help and citizens’ groups as both support mechanisms and potentially powerful lobbies. Describe how these lobbying bodies can help in amending the policy your colleague described.
Support your response with specific references to the resources. Be sure to provide full APA citations for your references.

how the evolution of health care policy has influenced programs such as Medicaid and Medicare.
The evolution of health care policy has influenced programs such as Medicaid and medicare by contributing billions of dollars into these programs leading to better care. When Medicare was started 19 million Americans were enrolled focusing on America’s most vulnerable, aging adults and people living in poverty. Today there are now more than 56 million people enrolled (usnews.com). Medicaid, started by only covering people who received government assistance, today it is the largest health insurance program in the country, with more than 71 million people enrolled. Due to these programs and health care policies, the “racial segregation” has been removed from hospitals and other health care facilities (usnews.com). It has provided better health care to millions of Americans, contributed to longer life expectancy, and helped many children grow into healthy teenagers and adults. There is now coverage for prescription drugs and medical devices.
describe a specific Medicaid policy in your state that should be amended, and explain how you would amend it and why.
In North Carolina, currently, there is not a policy for covering telemedicine and telepsychiatry services. While we are in a pandemic of Covid-19 right now people are not leaving their homes, thus subjecting them to different mental issues such as depression, stress, fear, and isolation. Amending this policy would offer support and guidance from medical personnel via a phone, computer, or by other means. To meet these people where there at during this difficult time.
