As a reminder, let’s refresh ourselves regarding the purpose and usage of theories in nursing. Please access the following article titled, “Toward an Understanding of Wisdom in Nursing.” The article associates the wisdom in the nursing profession with the usage of nursing theories.

Please note that Middle Range Theories are more specific than Grand Theories that were explored earlier in the course.

Theories of nursing that are Middle-Range tend to be more specific in focus and offer more concrete connections between Grand Nursing Theories and Nursing Practice. The concepts of Middle-Range theories tend to be less abstract and tend to me more verifiable through testing. These theories can often attempt to describe, explain, or predict certain phenomenon in clinical practice.
